GARROCHA wines have always had a substantially different approach to the generality of other Portuguese wine producers.
In our case, the knowledge used in the establishment of vineyards or in the treatment of wine does not correspond strictly to what was tradition, nor to scientific knowledge in Portugal.
We have found our answers in the experiences of previous generations and in our own experience. Or rather, in the knowledge obtained by experimentation carried out concretely and only in our Estates. Experimentation was made at the level of vineyard management coupled with the experimentation of grape transformation techniques in wine.
Since ever we have new vines and old vines of mixed grape varieties, since ever we have aged the wines in barrels of wood or concrete tanks. Our viticulture and oenology practices, although they may seem a bit strange or even rustic are all right. After all, our goal is the same as that of previous generations, to offer wines with their own character that could only be produced in our cellar and with our grapes.
